Re: VENSIM output data from R
Hi morebru - are you running the command files from R? I have been trying to run simulations using R via the Vensim dll but I am not having much success!

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has any successfully linked R to the Vensim dll?
Many thanks,

Time series data into Vensim
Hi, I would like to read time series data into Vensim. The model is subscripted and the text file I have does not contain all the variables. What is the best approach for getting the data in? As a simple example I have this data in a text file: Time 0 1 2 3 4 5 Variable [AAA] 1 3 5 2 5 Variable [CCC...

Re: "GET_XLS_SUBSCRIPT" query
Hi, Sadly this does not seem to work. I have got the "GET DIRECT SUBSCRIPT" linking to the excel file to read in the subscript elements OK in the MDL version. However the VPM version of the model does not appear to look at the spreadsheet when run from Excel, or I cannot trigger it to look...

Re: "GET_XLS_SUBSCRIPT" query
Thanks Tom, I am going to have to do something like this; but instead have multiple models with varying numbers of subscript elements to make the simulation more efficient as it will not then simulate the unused array elements. I will need to chose the appropriate model file for simulation from Exce...

Re: What improvements would you like to see in Vensim?
Hi,
I am running a .vpm Vensim model from an Excel spreadsheet using the dll. I would like to be able to define the size and names of the subscripts in the model from Excel, in a similar manner to using the GET XLS SUBSCRIPT function.
Thanks
Sion

Re: "GET_XLS_SUBSCRIPT" query
Hi, I was just thinking a bit further about this...Is it possible from Excel to do the following: - open up Vensim DSS - run a command file/script that includes the commands to publish the model using a predefined .frm file (thus generating a VPM file with the correct subscript names) - close Vensim...

Hi Tom,
Sadly it is ad hoc information, for example a text description of a particular scenario.
Best wishes

Re: Getting a string from a VDF
Hi, They are there, see the attached VPM file with three VDF files loaded. Refer to the variable SAMPLE STRING VARIABLE. I am using string variables to store additional run information. It would be great to be able to get the information back into Excel via the DLL. It would also be an issue if it i...

Re: "GET_XLS_SUBSCRIPT" query
Thanks for the info Tom - perhaps one to add to the Vensim Updates list :) My model requires the same number of active subscripts throughout the simulation and I want to define this number in the interface, so I can perhaps create a set of .vpms with differing numbers of subscript elements and pick ...

Re: What improvements would you like to see in Vensim?
Hi, I am doing a lot of sensitivity runs, with many iterations for a lot of different scenarios. I would like Vensim to be able to export the results that are plotted in the Sensitivity Graph (i.e., the values of the various percentiles over time). I am currently getting these values by importing th...

Hi JJ, That is pretty much exactly what I am doing at the moment, and I am then analysing the multiple runs elsewhere. What I want to do is get the values that Vensim calculates based on the multiple runs (e.g. median, percentiles etc.) without having to do this separate analysis elsewhere. Vensim c...

Hi, I was wondering if you can help.... I am doing lots of sensitivity runs and I want to be able to export the median value of the simulations to a datafile.
