Re: Lookup Table
Another observation, if the vensim DSS is installed, the lookup tables all appear in front of the main screen, in both Windows 7 and XP environment.

Re: Lookup Table
Hi. Yes, it does not seem to work. The vensim manual mentioned this command does not work in java environment? However I observed an interesting behavior and let me describe it to you. On Windows 7 machine, when open my application (.vpa) for the first time, a .jar (caller) will be extrated. The mai...

Lookup Table
Hi. When I invoke a lookup table for the first time after starting a java vensim application, the table appears behind all other windows currently opened. However, after the first time, the table will be opened in the front, which is what I want. Is there a way to set the lookup pop-up windows alway...

Re: model reader
Yes, I know that. The application is in the form of .vpa. Most of the users run the application using model reader with no problem, because the error message never comes out when they install. And the installation is usually fairly easy, people just click through it. Just one user, when installing t...

Re: model reader
Thanks. That's what I thought. The dll will automatically go to C:\Windows\System32 in 32 bit system no matter where you choose to install main program and supporting files. The error message appears in the end of the installation process, and it did prevent my all application from running normally....

model reader
Hi. I have a question regarding to vensim model reader installation. Is the VenDLL32.dll installed automatically into a pre-defined destination? During the installation process, it will ask two installation directories, one for the main program and the other for the supporting files. I'm assuming I ...
Re: DLL
Thanks, Tony. I forgot to mention that if I package it as .vpa file, the vensim model reader can open the application successfully. Later on I found a way to package the application as a .jar file (I found it more clean compared with .vpa method because only one .jar appears on users' machines inste...

Re: Sending Password Through Vensim Command
When I publish .vpa, I unticked "Readable by" for DSS, Runtime, Model Reader. The .vpa file cannot be opened. Am I missing something? Thanks.
DLL
Hi. I've developed a java application using Vensim DLL. I packaged the application as a .jar file which includes the vensim model. When you run the .jar file, the vensim model will be extracted to the same directory so that the model can be exercised via my application. The .jar file works fine on m...

Re: Sending Password Through Vensim Command
Thanks for your prompt reply. Also, there's one thing I would like to confirm. Is it true that if I give users .vpa file, then they won't be able to see the underlying model, i.e., they can exercise the application but cannot see the structure/equations of the model? Thanks.

Sending Password Through Vensim Command
Hi. I have developed a java interface for my vensim model (using DLL). I want the model to be password protected. I'm wondering if there is a way to send the password through the java code directly so that the vensim "enter password" pop-up window won't show when opening the interface. In ...

GET XLS Function
I use GET XLS function in my vensim model to import data from an external excel spreadsheet. When running the model, the excel spreadsheet also opens up automatically. I'm wondering if there is a way to "NOT" auto run the excel spreadsheet when running the vensim model? Thank you.

32 bit or 64 bit
Hi. I am wondering if vensim dll works with 64 bit machine (windows 7). I have a java application for vensim model and it does not seem to work if I install java 64 bit, however it works if I install java 32 bit. So, my question is 1. is there a 64 bit version of DLL? 2. if not, then is it true that...

Directory for VDF File
Hi. Can I change the directory where the .vdf can be generated after each run? In specific, currently, the vdf files are generated in the same directory as my vensim model. I would like to organize these vdf files in a specific directory. Am I able to do that? If so, how to do that? Thanks. maxin

Application Distribution
Hello, I have created a java application, app.jar, which calls VenDLL32.dll. I'm preparing to distribute it to some users, who have installed Vensim Model Reader. I tried to create a .vpa file which contains the application file (.jar), the model file (.vpm), and some data file (.vdf). When I try to...
