LINUX equivalent for modelling

I am not sure how "open" it is, but I found a tool called "A Modeling Environment" now renamed "Simile" http://helios.bto.ed.ac.uk/ierm/ame/ is the address of it. It seems to be a modelling environment developed by the University of Edinburgh, in the UK. I just found it...

Um, now I may have missed what this Roland Shiefer said, but on your point 2, I disagree a bit. SD is about understanding how systems work, right? Discrete event modelling and all sorts of other modelling approaches are also trying to specifically model complex systems. So, are they not all part of ...
