That was a good answer. But then, integrals don't exist in nature either,
because they also depend on our choice of scale.

I still say that mountain sides (i.e. slopes) are examples of derivatives
with respect to distance in the real world.

Markus, I am not aware of any such SD model, but if you find one, I would be interested to know about it. There are people in SD who do dynamic decision models (e.g. Berndt Brehmer, John Sterman), but the mix of structure and process that you are looking for might sooner be found in models from Para...
