Re: Creating an "evolving" subscript or subrange?

Thank you Tom, I think Ventity may well be the answer in this case, so for now I'll try to find an alternative modeling path to represent as closely as possible the process in Vensim (^^).

Creating an "evolving" subscript or subrange?

Good morning or afternoon, My apologies if this was already treated, but I couldn't find easily an answer. Is there any possibility to define a subrange, or a new subscript, that would automatically modify its elements, in case the variables subscripted with the first subscript answer certain condit...

Re: Keep a subscript element name attached to its value after a VECTOR REORDER?

Yes, it does make sense, thanks a lot for the detailed explanation. I was not aware these kind of exceptions could be embeded relatively easily in functions dedicated to subscripts such as SUM. The first sign "!" of the equation here simply means that all the values of the subscripted vari...

Re: Keep a subscript element name attached to its value after a VECTOR REORDER?

Thank you very much, it works very well!!! I had tried to use the VECTOR RANK before, but as I didn't find the solution for the cumulative sum then, I thought I needed to reorder the vector with SORT ORDER and REORDER to do so. Just to be really certain I understand well and can reuse it, would you ...

Re: Keep a subscript element name attached to its value after a VECTOR REORDER?

Hi both, and thank you for your answers. Here is a simple model on the candy example. essai1507.mdl My goal is to know the name of the type of candies I was able to buy. The problem arises at the VECTOR REORDER stage. As the name of the candies is lost, the results of the variable "candy is bou...

Re: Keep a subscript element name attached to its value after a VECTOR REORDER?

Hi, thank you for the quick reply. My question is really about how to avoid the "reshuffling" that the function VECTOR REORDER operates between the subscripts elements and the values it sorted. On the help page (https://www.vensim.com/documentation/fn_vector_sort_order.htm ) it is indeed w...

Keep a subscript element name attached to its value after a VECTOR REORDER?

Hi everyone, I am creating a sub-model that is prioritizing the elements of a subscript, and I'd like the element's name to remain securely tied to the values they will represent in different variables. Here is an easy analogy: There is several types of candies at the store and you want to try as ma...
