Re: Equation editor hangs programme
It has started again. When I click the equation editor the appropriate variables are highlighted. However when I click on them to input the equations Vensim freezes and I have to do a 'Force Quit'. I'm not aware of any significant changes to my machine to prompt the problem. It first started when I ...

Re: Equation editor hangs programme
Hi Tony I understand that and know it happens sometimes. However, that does not explain why the software actually freezes. if I simply can't see the equation editor that's okay and easily fixed - I sometimes have the same problem with Powerpoint. My problem has been that it actually freezes the soft...

Re: Equation editor hangs programme
Yes. I generally have two monitors. My machine is a MacBook Air and I have screens set up at home and at my office which I generally connect to. However, to complicate matters it also 'fixed itself' when I had two screens running.

Re: Equation editor hangs programme
Hi Tony Thanks for your reply. However before I could test your solution I fired up vensim (native MAC version) and it works - i.e. the equation editor does not hang. I have done nothing that I am aware of. I also checked the PC version running on the emulator and that is working as well. While that...

Equation editor hangs programme
Last year I had problems with the equation editor freezing the programme and having to close down. That was with Vensim DSS 5.11 (PC version) running on a MAC using the parallels emulator. I only managed to solve it by restoring the machine to a point prior to the fault. I now have the same problem ...

Re: Opening external programmes such as powerpoint
Yep - everything works fine Tony. I now have a Sable 'front-end' that has a number of models and supporting material in pdf, doc and ppt formats as well as links to websites. The more I use Sable the more ideas I get about how to use it and your willingness to respond to my ongoing questions has mad...

Thanks again Tony. Don't fret about the delay - nobody's perfect and your ongoing responses to my queries over the last 18 months have been fantastic. They have saved me hours of work trying to work things out - and each reply has helped me get better at understanding what Sable can do. Thanks again...

Re: converting from stella to vensim
I'm trying the same process with no luck. Created the batch file etc and the error message I am getting is: ERROR: Character (ASCII code 8) line 1 not recognized. ERROR: Syntax error - line 1 of C:\users\david rees\APU.stm. I get a vensim model but it is empty apart from the time controls. Thanks Da...

Opening external programmes such as powerpoint
Hi I've been trying to find a way of opening powerpoint from within Sable so I can include some instructional material related to the model within the package. I've seen it in one of your downloadable demos but haven't been able to work out how to do it. I tried the URL command which works fine for ...

Show the Simulation Run
Is there anyway to show, as you can in vensim, the name of the simulation run you are seting up. At this stage when you load runs the name of that run is not visible. Is there a way of doing this?
Thanks

Publishing - making it easier for the client
When you open open the Sable Runtime it defaults to the VNP file. The user then has to use the dialog to ask it to look for a SPK file. In the interests of making it as easy as possible for the client is there any way to make SPK the default. Also any ideas you have about other methods for making ac...

MAC/PC scaling
I'm having trouble distributing the MAC version to PC users as the scaling, when read across the platform makes the model unreadable. When it is opened in a full version of vensim there's no problem as the receiver can always rescale. When the client only has the reader however the model is largely ...

Error Message -[variable name] - is not used in the model
I have just upgraded from DSS version 5.7 (PC) to DSS version 5.11(MAC) Working on a model, originally developed in 5.7 I have got an error message - after having worked on it, seemingly without problems for a couple of hours, and I am now getting an error message saying variable is not used in the ...

Re: GET XLS MAc
No problems. It is just that I currently have version 5.7 DSS (PC version running on my MAC using parallels software) and thinking of upgrading to 5.11 (MAC). The manual in my version mentioned that the GET XLS function was not available on the MAC so just wanted to check that it was on the later ve...

Re: Slider Range
Thanks - yep it does work. Just didn't think about the 'tick' range. I learn something every time I create a new interface. However it leads to another issue. I'm using subscripts - in this case 'male' and 'female'. Using the edit box I can get it to 'display all combinations' and thereby display th...

Slider Range
Hi
Is there any way to get a slider to operate between 0 and 1? I tend to use these values for percentages e.g. 0.45 rather than 45%.
Thanks

Apple Mac
With all the promises that the new mac operating system will enable you to run PC programmes does anyone know if people have tried running vensim on a mac and if so has it been workable?
