Re: Problem in Reconstructing System Dynamics Models
My guess is that "Information delay generator" is a random number. http://www.vensim.com/documentation/index.html?fn_random.htm SO I managed to find out what is this information delay generator. It is a negative exponential function, and it is uses the EXP + LN + LOG.mdl in FunctionExampl...

Re: modeling organization image to stakeholders
I'd suggest having a go at putting some structure in your model and see how it works. Typically I'd use a level to measure "image" (between 0-1) and a lookup table to measure effect on other things (eg, image = 1, effect on investment =1, image = .5, effect on investment might only be .75...

Re: Merging two views
one model with several views.Thank you tom, your solution works !tomfid wrote:One model or two?
Have you tried pasting in both modes (Picture and Replicate)?
Copy and paste the view as a picture and delete the view from the "view" in the menu bar.

Merging two views
Hi all, Is there a way to merge two (or more) views in Vensim? I've tried to copy and paste models into one view but the name of variables automatically changes and one need to rename them again. I am wondering if there is a way to merge views? (for instance a capability like; if I delete a view it ...

Re: modeling organization image to stakeholders
Does the following post help? http://www.ventanasystems.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5764&p=20171&hilit=soft#p20171 So I've read this thread, and the pdf file. but I'm not really sure that my problem is within this context. what I am thinking is that, the organization image to stake...

modeling organization image (reputation)
Hi all, I am looking for resources on modeling an organization image to its stakeholders. an organization's reputation is the aggregate evaluation of how well it meets stakeholder expectations (Wartick 1992), where these evaluations tend to polarize into either positive or negative expectations (coo...

Re: Help in solving a problem
It's usually straightforward to stop a level going negative. The following thread has a lot of useful information. http://www.ventanasystems.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6186 I read the thread and I tried to change the structure of model accordingly (colour changed to red for better identifi...

Re: Help in solving a problem
It's difficult for us to take a look at a model when we know nothing about what it is supposed to be doing. So if you can let us know why you think the model is incorrect, maybe we can advise you. I did notice that "UNHRD Workforce" starts negative. Is this correct? And "Incountry In...

Re: Help in solving a problem
My guess is that "evacuation rate" should be a percent/month. But this is just a guess as "Lookup of evacuation rate" and "Flood Risk" are both dimensionless so there is no way I can be sure what they are measuring. So I tried to fix the errors and I think wrongly I ha...

Re: Help in solving a problem
Thank you for your help. I appreciate it. I included units in the model and tried to fix the unit errors. I fixed a few of them. But still, only two of errors are persisting. Specifically the error related to evacuation . I don't know how to fix them. can you please help. please not that I attached ...

Help in solving a problem
Dear all, I am developing a model for my research, in my model I have a stock name "Unsatisfied Demand". The value of stock becomes negative, which is not rational. What I want to model is the backlog of people who did not receieve aid. Can anyone check my model and help me to improve it. ...

hi all,
I am looking for a system dynamics model that represents the continuous review system vs periodic review system. can anyone suggest a reference for modeling inventory systems ?

Problem in Reconstructing System Dynamics Models
Hi, I have a problem in rebuilding a system dynamics model that I found in a journal article. Unfortunately, many of the equations in the paper are not supporting all the variables in the model. So in an effort to rebuild the model, I end up with a handicapped model that equations are partially comp...

Hi all,
can anyone explain the Test Input generator? how does this works? I have a picture of it together with the equation used for it attached to this post.
Thank you.

Asking guidance for a small problem in Vensim

However, I am not really sure that model is valid since I am new to system dynamics modeling. can anyone look at my model and see if there is any stupid mistake or something wrong ...

Re: Information Delay
I actually read the sample models came with the Vensim software. Of course they are very helpful in understanding the different types of delays. However, these models are very small, I am looking for a bigger model that demonstrates the effects of delay function.

Re: Errors during Stella/iThink convertation to Vensim
I'm encountering errors when I try to convert a model from stella to vensim. I tried to rebuild the model in vensim, but I dont know how to convert two rate equations used in stella model to my vensim model. can any one help me for this issue. I just want to know what is the vensim equivalent of two...
