open .VDF file and convert to EXCEL

Post by MarKa »

Hi All,

I'm new to Vensim (using PLE) and I have following problem:

I can`t open the .VDF file with Versions 6.4E and 5.11A. Any suggestions what should I do?

The file is here:
http://iops.tamu.edu/faculty/roliva/res ... e/esq.html
under the name: historical data.

I need these data in best case in EXCEL file. Could you convert it for me please?

Regards

Vensim PLE does not support external data.

You can try opening the model using the Vensim model reader. If you can, you should be able to display a table of any data the model has, and paste that into Excel.

Thanks.

The model can be opened using Model Reader and Vesnim 6.4E but it can not be run…
If I want to start simulation I still get this error message: http://www.ventanasystems.co.uk/forum/d ... ew&id=2154

Have you saved data.vdf into the same folder as the model?

The model is probably incompatible with PLE. Try the Model Reader (also free).

I tried this a couple of times, but the simulation does not work.
It is possible that the model is compatible only with Vensim Professional??

It's not compatible with PLE because it uses macros.

It is compatible with the model reader, but you need to download the .vmf version (marked as for the Reader) from the author's page.

of course I used .VMF file by Model Reader.

If I play "run" every time I get:
"unrecognized interpreter command" and the program turns down.

Maybe I have a corrupted copy of the VDF file, or some other issue ?

Definitely sounds like your version of the files may have been corrupted somehow.
