Vdf2tab issue

Post by drw »

Using the latest version of Vensim 6.4e DSS we are finding that when using the vdf2tab functionality as well as the manual export (manual -> export -> tab delimited) that some variables are being output offset by 1 year relative to the actual year if the time parameters are not specified.

For example, in our model which runs from 1971 to 2050 if you were to open the data up in excel, the first column A would have the variable names, columns B to CC would have data for 1971 to 2050 and then in column CD (i.e. corresponding to 2051) there would also be some data (and there would be a zero value in column B). For info we are also exporting something like 2000+ rows of data. The workaround solution is to specify the dates 1971 and 2050 when doing the export.

In previous versions of Vensim, we did not have to specify the time periods, so wondering if this may be a bug which has been introduced in this latest release.

Thanks
Dave

Can you post an example? I've just tried it with the model I've been working on, everything was fine.

Two sample files are in the attached zipped file. One with time specified and the other where time period was not specified and has the zero offset for some variables. Also I should have mentioned in the first post that when exporting this manually this was using a list file where time is specified in the list file so the check box for "don't show time" was selected. Thanks.

Sending the tab files doesn't help. I need to be able to re-create the tab files and see exactly what you are doing.

Can you upload a model and associated VDF and explain step by step how to get the tab file with the offset?
