I am using DSS 6.4. I need to optimize some constants of a model I am working on. However, when I launch the optimizer, the error message above pops up with the message "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly...."
Has anyone else experienced the same "problem"? How can I get the optimizer to launch?

Re: Ventana family of products has stopped working
Are you running the latest 6.4e?
Are you doing stochastic optimization? (There's a known bug that's fixed in the forthcoming release.)
Does it crash before the simulation control dialog comes up, or when you simulate?

Can you upload the model (or email it to us)?RiaanJ wrote:I am using DSS 6.4. I need to optimize some constants of a model I am working on. However, when I launch the optimizer, the error message above pops up with the message "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly...."

It working fine for me. There may be a problem with your payoff file (which is why I asked if you can upload or send anything to us).

I tried the electric sample model as described in the documentation, with exactly the same result (crash before optimize dialog opens). Maybe it is not model related?Administrator wrote:It working fine for me. There may be a problem with your payoff file (which is why I asked if you can upload or send anything to us).

Ahh, I see now. If there is a VPD, it crashes trying to read it.
If you update to 6.4b via http://www.vensim.com/php-bin/download.html, it should work ok.
