Error message: Missing variables or other problems
Hello!
When trying to open two recently developed models I get the following message from Vensim: "The file has errors, there may be missing variables or other problems". When opening the model, half of the content is gone.
What do I do? I tried reinstalling the software.
Best,
Therese

Re: Error message: Missing variables or other problems
Are there any other files in the folder with the model? Vensim does create backups, one of them might be available.

No, there are no other files in the folder..
Re: Error message: Missing variables or other problems
We'd have to see the model to say more.
Generally, there's a backup - if you have fred.mdl, there will be a fred.2mdl - rename that to fredBak.mdl and try opening it.
This kind of corruption is extremely rare. What version & operating system are you running?

Re: Error message: Missing variables or other problems
Tried to open an old version of one of the corrupted models, to rebuild the most recent additions. The same error then occurred after a while, and this time there was a back-up. Nevertheless, the back-up has got the same error.
I have the macOS 10.12.6, and just installed the last version of VensimPLE.

Re: Error message: Missing variables or other problems
Are you saving the model into DropBox, OneDrive, Google Drive or similar?

Re: Error message: Missing variables or other problems
That seems to be one of the variables missing when I open the model?
Re: Error message: Missing variables or other problems
Change it in the .mdl file, using a text editor.

Re: Error message: Missing variables or other problems
Thanks for having a look at it! Still doesn't work though, even after changing the variable in the text file.
