Strange Problem: Missing Model

Post by marco_savoia »

Hi,

I have been working long time to generate a model. This model have been saved into several different versions (increment change in each model). I always back up my file in google drive stream, and have no problem. Recently I changed my computer from Asus S400 to Dell G3, and that's when the problem started to occured.

This is the first time I using vensimPLE in my new computer.

After I finish editing a model, then I saved and shut down my computer. After a while, I wanted to continue to work on my model, but when I open my last saved file it was blank. Similar condition to when we open new model in vensim. There is no variable, time step was not set yet, and no graphic that I was made before. It was strange, because from file size, I know that file still contained model information from my last work. Even, when I opened .mdl in text editor, the equation is still there.

In desperation, I tried to restart, uninstall and install vensim again. But the result still same. Right now I'm stuck. Any advice? Please help me.

Thank you in advanced

Details: VensimPLE 7.2a (single precision) running on windows 10

ok. I was hoping it was the enterprise version of Windows.

Can you try creating a shortcut as detailed in the attachment? The INI file for Vensim PLE is venple.ini (not vensim.ini).

I've tried what you have suggested.
I was okay in opening older model
But, when I opened my last saved file (the one that I sent) it still give me blank model (picture attached).

Did you double click the model, or click File->Open in Vensim?

Try moving the file out of the Google Drive hierarchy? Drive causes problems with locked .vdfs, though that shouldn't affect an mdl.

Okay, I have moved the model to desktop folder and tried to double click the model and using File -> Open model.
Nothing changed, the model still gave blank page

I have access to vensim DSS in my campus laboratory.
If I opened using vensim DSS, is it gonna solve the problem?

Ahh, I think your original model is corrupted. Try this one.

Hard to say. I've had problems with both Google Drive and OneDrive syncing back an older version of a file on top of my current work (powerpoint, not Vensim). Could be related.
