Venpy

Post by MelissaG »

I installed Venpy to move my model into python and now I can no longer open Vensim models I have created. I get and error saying "File type mdl of 'file location' is not known - unable to load. Any advice would be appreciated.

Not sure what to suggest. I cannot see how Venpy would interfere with Vensim in any way, it's just source code isn't it? You might want to notify the author of Venpy that it's caused this issue.

When do you get this error? Are you double clicking on a model in Windows file explorer or clicking File->Open in Vensim? Does File->Open work?

If the problem happens in File Explorer, you might be able to restore the mdl file association with Vensim via the right-click "Open With..." method.

If the problem is with the .dll, the dll can't parse mdl format anyway - the model needs to be published to a vpm/vpmx via the File menu.
