separate models exchanging information

I'm curious if there is a means of running separate SD models (with identical time step, time horizon, etc.) concurrently, with the models exchanging information during simulation? Any thoughts or comments appreciated.

The latest version of Vensim allows this.

Navigate to Reference Manual->Sub models. It is titled "sub-models" purely as it's easier to imagine a parent and child model.
