Modelling Manufacturing Systems

Hello all:

I am a student of Production Engineering at the EAFIT University of
Medellin, Colombia and I am looking for manufacturing models
(referred to different techniques and policies such as Just in Time,
MRP, etc) that I could use for my grade project and have some
application in the industry.

A classic work here is Forresters _Industrial_Dynamics_ (1961). Though it
doesnt directly refer to JIT, MRP, etc., its a must-read. The book is
available from Productivity Press, and one of its models (Chapter 15) is
available on my web site at:

See the "Recent Additions" section. PLE users will discover that the model
incorporates a macro (used to replicate the DYNAMO CLIP function) that
requires more advanced versions of Vensim. Ill try to post a copy for PLE
that replaces the CLIPs with IFTHENELSE statements soon.

John Morecroft (Professor, London Business School) has done work in
these areas. His doctoral dissertation was on MRP. Influences from
Information Technology on Industry Cycles, 1979, M.I.T.
