Watershed transport dynamics

Post by jdrake@alkali.otago.ac.nz »

Greetings,

I am currently on sabbatical leave from the University of Vermont
here at Otago University, in Dunedin, NZ, where Ill be working on P dynamics in a small
estuary. While at UVM I worked on an interdisciplinary project that
culminated in a substantial stella model of storage, transport and
transformation of P in a river reach. However, estuaries are a new
environment for me. Rather than try to re-invent a wheel, I am trying to
ascertain if there are any existing estuarine models for P dynamics
or estuarine models that might be readily adapted to this focus.
Prof. Rolfe Stanley, a colleague at UVM has given me your email
addresses as potential sources.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance,

John C. Drake

Watershed transport dynamics

Hi John

We are the ithink/stella distributors in NZ.

Ive gone through our database to see who might be working on similar
issues as you (at least using stella). Im not aware of anyone doing this
kind of modelling, but Ive listed below three people who might be using
stella in related areas (quite possibly very distantly related!) -- they
may be able to point you in an appropriate direction.

Phil Allison (Hort Research Te Puke) pallison@hort.cri.nz
Mark Paine, Ag Research Whatawhata, Private Bag 3089, Hamilton -- dont
have email address
Alistair Mowatt (Hort Research -- but a different one) amowat@hort.cri.nz

Other sources you might try are:

DOC -- Department of Conservation
Ministry of the Environment (although this is really the policy setting
part).

Unfortunately I dont have any contacts in these, but the Uni library
should have the latest Government Directory what will at least point you in
the right direction.

Hope this is helpful.

Cheers
