Dear Sir,

Please let me know any reference for the research amd developments
wherein application of fuzzy logic has been made in system
dynamics.

John,

I think there is little overlap in the areas of interest and application of
SD and "self-organizing systems" (aka Complexity Theory).

Please read M.Mitchell Waldrops excellent book, Complexity: The Emerging
Science at the Edge of Order and Chaos. Its five years old now, but is
VERY well and interestingly written, and it tells everything (as of 1992)
about this new mode of scientific inquiry, one much better suited for the
real world complexities of the future than the old "scientific" method.
Waldrops book rewards persistence, because there is so much new, BUT
Waldrop does the best job of anyone I have read in communicating new,
powerful, and sometimes abstract ideas. He is extraordinarily gifted in
making complex and unfamiliar ideas and theories accessible, and he does it
through the eyes and lives of the pioneers in the field!

Please read it and pass it on. If Jay Forrester and the Sante Fe Institute
people dont get along, they havent been properly introduced: Ill do it,
if need be.

Dear John,

I did not see the model you refer on the ImagineThat site. Could you please
send a copy of the NASA model this way.

Much thanks and regards,

Jaideep

In response, I will present a paper at the 17th International Conference
of the System Dynamics
Society http://www.vuw.ac.nz/gsbgm/isdc99/ on 21 July 99 in Parallel
session six called.

Beyond Pitch/Duration Scoring: Towards A System Dynamics Model Of
Electroacoustic Music.

The paper (12p A4) including simulation and abstact will be published as

Dear System Dynamics Colleagues:

Through the grapevine, I recently heard that as of tomorrow, the Water
Center for System Dynamics will no longer be at Trinity College of Vermont
(US). For reasons unconnected to the Center, the college is folding and the
Centers leaders, John Heinbokel and Jeff Potash, are currently open to
relocating the Center elsewhere. My (admittedly vague) understanding is
that the Waters Center is set up (among other things) to support the use of
system dynamics in pre-college and college education, run college courses,
develop curriculum, and train teachers and administrators.

Given the importance of supporting the education of future generations of
system dynamicists, I think it is important to us all that the Center find a
sound home. And given the value of such a center and its two leaders, it
seems like a significant opportunity for the university that would be lucky
enough to welcome it.

So, any thoughts on a new home for this important organization in our
community?

Sincerely,

Drew Jones
