You might want to talk with Xlibris - http://www.Xlibris.com/
about making it available. Once in electronic form, they produce
one-off, hardbound copies, for very reasonable prices - indefinitely.
And you retain all rights.

Feedback Thought

Prof. G.P. Richardson,

There are several options for combined electronic and print-on-demand
self publishing which may assist you in bringing _Feedback Thought in
Social Science and Systems Theory_ back into print. You may like to
check out the following WWW links:

"Universal Publishers"

http://www.upublish.com/

And see their related web site for publishing a thesis
or dissertation:

"Academic Dissertation Publishers"

http://www.dissertation.com

As an example of what they publish, look at:

"Essays on Genetic Evolution and Economics"
by Terence C. Burnham (Harvard U.)

http://www.dissertation.com/library/5856429a.htm

And Dr. Burnhams web site is:

http://www.ksg.harvard.edu/burnham/

The first twenty-five pages can be viewed for free online, as with
all Dissertation.coms books. A full PDF version is available for
only $6.00 (but without the ability to print it out, I think).

Be sure to ask them to enable printing on the Acrobat PDF version sold
over the Internet, if you want to give your readers the same privilege
and convenience of copying that those with access to a hard copy (from
a library) have. By default, they follow a rather regressive policy
of not allowing PDF documents to be printed. Note: The Acrobat PDF
format will surely have a shorter range of durability than paper,
even paper thats not "acid free". How many PC file formats are
readable from even ten years ago, for example?

With Upublish.com, your book can be ready within 30 days, and its
listed with Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, Borders.com and other
online booksellers. Itll be available by special order from any
bookstore. Also, after publication you can cancel your contract
unilaterally on very short notice, if I understand correctly (should
you find another publisher, for example). Upublish.com sells your
book for substantially below the UMI price. Itll only be $20 to
$30 for the softcover edition, depending on the number of pages.

Additionally, your previous publisher may be able to get your book
back into print on an "on demand" basis through the services of LPI:

"Lightning Print Inc."

http://www.lightningprint.com/Default.asp

These are merely web sites Ive discovered so I cant vouch for them
as business enterprises. Youll have to judge for yourself without a
recommendation. Although Ive considered publishing some poems Ive
written through Upublish.com, Im not in a position to further discuss
their services beyond whats seen on their web site.

Theres also another online publisher, similar to Universal
Publishers, whos web site I can not locate. Apparently, I forgot to
bookmark it. And searching proves useless. Alas, its "lost in
cyberspace". :-( If I every find it again, Ill forward the URL to
you (but I think they publish ONLY in electronic format).

By the way, your web page at http://cnsvax.albany.edu/~gr383/ is
invalid. "Document contains no data" was returned when I tried
accessing it a few minutes ago.

Good luck with bringing your book back into print.

P.S. - If you ever avail yourself of any of the above services, please
let me know how it works out for you. Thanks. -HB.

Post P.S. - Just as an afterthought, you could republish your book
as a computer hypertext document. You could use something like
Storyspace from http://www.eastgate.com. You could even place it in
Storyspace or Acrobat format (better Acrobat because of the accurate
printing option) and then distribute it from your universitys web
site for free provided your purpose was not to make money. I mention
these ideas only as idle suggestions. Im not urging you to act on
them. -HB.
