Workshop Participants - IMPORTANT NOTICE

To participate fully in the following workshops, you will need to use a laptop
computer. The minimum capacity requirements for each workshop are provided
below. Workshop participants must make their own arrangements for this computer
support. Several choices are available:

- You may use your own laptop.
- You may rent a laptop at the conference. Details are provided below.
- You may share the use of a laptop with one or more
fellow-participants.

If you wish to rent a laptop, you may do so by contacting the company that is
handling audio/visual services for the Conference:

THE 16th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE SYSTEM DYNAMICS SOCIETY

Celebrating over forty years of advancing policy simulation

Quebec 98 July 20 - 23, 1998

The sixteenth international conference of the System Dynamics Society will
be held July 20-23, 1998, in Quebec City, Canada. The conference will
attract more than two hundred fifty practitioners interested in policy
studies based on systems thinking and computer simulation informed by a
feedback perspective.

PROGRAM

The conference consists of plenary sessions, many parallel sessions,
poster sessions and workshops, and the Society business meeting, as well
as ample occasions for relaxed social and professional interaction.
Plenary sessions feature refereed, high quality presentations of current
developments in system dynamics and exemplary applications of system
dynamics and systems thinking with topics including:

*public policy studies
*business planning
*corporate strategies emphasizing the role of feedback
*contributions to system dynamics teaching in K-12 education
*business procedures re-engineering
*corporate diversification
*organizations
*energy
*flight simulators
*developments in simulation tools and techniques
*system dynamics contributions to theory building in economics
*human resource management

Parallel and poster sessions cover the wide range of work being done by
system dynamics practitioners worldwide. Tutorials and workshops will
include subjects such as systems thinking, strategy dynamics, system
dynamics programs in schools and issues related to consulting.

LOCATION

The conference will be held at the Quebec Hilton, just outside the walls
of Old Quebec, rich in history and francophone culture. Quebec City and
its surroundings offer a wide variety of tourist and cultural activities,
excellent restaurants and great shopping opportunities. Quebec City is
accessible by air through the Lesage International Airport. It is 2 1/2
hours by car, bus or train from Montreal.

The registration fee includes attendance for one person at all regular
conference functions (coffee breaks, welcome reception and the conference
banquet). You may invite a guest to the welcome cocktail reception. A copy
of the proceedings is included. The only meal included is the banquet as
you may want to experience some of the many wonderful, nearby restaurants
in Quebec.
