I am working with a small group of students from the
Humphrey Institute of the Univ. of Minn. and some engineers
interested in system dynamics. We have chosen Checklands
soft system methodology as a way to capture a human activity
system which we will describe as a causal loop model and
then use Vensim to simulate. For our area of concern
crime prevention in the community of at-risk youth has been
chosen. Are list members aware of any work in this area
that we can refer to? All replies are appreciated!

Hi Curt,
do take a look at:
Lane, D.C. and Oliva, R. 1998. The greater whole: Towards a synthesis of
system dynamics and soft systems methodology, European Journal of
Operational Research (107)1: 214-235

Dear Curt, One of my M.Sc. students has been working on a related issue for
the last 8 months... We can provide documents with the general idea of what
we have been doing (including our first version of an SD model)... The
problem is that all is in spanish, Isaac
