Distance course in system dynamics

Post by "Jim Hines" »

MIT is interested in gauging interest in a 10-week system dynamics course
offered at a distance. If you think this might be interesting to folks,
please email me at JHines@MIT.EDU.

Although tailored for distance learning, the course would cover essentially
the same ground as MITs semester-length introductory courses offered in the
Sloan School and in the System Design and Management Program. Almost all of
the content would be delivered via the web including : Streaming video of
the lectures (or video tapes via mail), all sample models used in the
lectures, slides used in the lectures, homework assignments, and comments
back on students handins. Students would hand in their assignments on the
web and would participate in a web-based, threaded discussion. All of this
would be asynchronous, so that folks could log-on, download, upload, and
participate in discussions when most convenient for them.

Participants would have the option of taking the course for MIT credit or
taking it pass/fail.

If interest is high, this introductory course would be the prerequisite for
three additional follow-on courses in system dynamics.

How many people do you think might be interested in this?

[Hosts Note: Please respond to Jim. He can report back with a summary
and let us know the plans foing forward.]

Jim
