Renewable Energies / PhD Thesis

Hello!

Im new on this list, so a short word of introduction: I studied
electronics and business management in Germany, France and Italy. Im
currently working for an international consultancy and planning to write a
PhD thesis starting May 2001.

Does anybody know about research in the field of renewable energies made
from a system dynamics point of view? Who might be interested in that
field?

Thanks a lot for any piece of advice!

Renewable Energies / PhD Thesis

I worked both on renewable energy and on system dynamic but never applied
system dynamics to renewable energy.
But I used system dynamics on my teachings on renewable energy to show how
complexe it will be to change the energy base of a nation.
Look at works from India. I read something fifteen years ago on solar energy
strategy. You may also look the works of Ignacy Sachs done in Paris at :
Ecole pratique des Hautes Etudes and at the Institut National des Sciences
Techniques et Nucléaires in Saclay.
Sorry but for now thats all I remember. I hope it can help.

Dr. H.T. Odum and colleagues are pioneers in systems ecology work and have
done a considerable amount of interesting work considering renewable and
non-renewable sources of energy. He has also developed emergy analysis,
an energy-based denominator for evaluating diverse resources in various
applications.

You should be able to find descriptions of some of this work on the
University of Florida, Environmental Engineering Sciences web page.

A colleague of mine here at South Bank University (London), Titus Olaniyi,
is currently writing his PhD thesis on developing a system dynamics decision
support model for energy planning in developing economies. One of the core
sectors in his model is renewable energy, it encompasses different forms of
renewable energies. I am sure he would be more than willing to help.

Titus can be reached at: olaniytk@sbu.ac.uk
