teaching economics

Post by "tonella" »

Dear Armando

After teaching for 20 years simulation and modelling in a System Engineering
school at the Universidad de los Andes (ULA) in Mérida, Venezuela (and in
using SD with Engineering student at the end of the career), during the last
4 years, I used SD (using Vensim) in one of my Informatics courses with
second year students in Switzerland. I found that the main problems are
very similar to the ones that I found with systems engineering students. You
can find many ideas in the material of RoadMaps (System Dynamics Group, MIT:
http://sysdyn.mit.edu
oad-maps) and in the books of
M. Ruth and B. Hannon (Springer Verlag).

Maybe you can contact Prof. G. Orlandoni (orlandon@faces.ula.ve) at the
School of Economics, ULA, Mérida. He as a long experience in using SD in
economics courses (including using SD for the study of the theories of
Smith, Riccardo etc.).
