Hi Christian,

besides the ASTRA project there are some other studies integrating transport
and system dynamics. One is made in Switzerland under the NFP41. It is called
MODUM and you may contact Mario Keller from infras for information.

Also our institute has developed another model, called ESCOT, for the OECD
project on Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST). With that model policies are
tested that should lead to a sustainable transport system in the year 2030
(2050). The final report should be available this summer but you are able to
download an overview paper from the 3rd European Ecological Economics Conference.

A PhD thesis on this topic has just been published by a colleague of mine
at the Nomos-Verlag in Baden-Baden: Karsten Kuchenbecker (1999) "Strategische Prognose und
Bewertung von Verkehrsentwicklungen mit System Dynamics".

Nevertheless I fully agree that there still is plenty of space for
creativity in this field.

Best regards

Wolfgang
