Computer Simulation Modeler
Specialist/Professional Researcher

Work with an interdisciplinary team of enthusiastic researchers to
develop and expand the NIH-funded Tobacco Policy Model. The purpose
of the simulation model is to estimate the long-term costs and health
gains from any change in tobacco policy.

Responsibilities: Develop and refine model structure using standard
system dynamics software; identify data sources and develop
data-based mathematical/statistical functions for inclusion in the
model; perform Monte Carlo sensitivity analyses; import/export data;
debug and validate model; report on model results; assist in drafting
manuscripts for publication; work collaboratively with
multi-disciplinary research team.

Required skills and training: Doctorate or masters in quantitative
field; experience with computer simulation modeling.

Desired skills and training: Excellent spoken and written English
language skills; experience developing computer simulation models of
population health; understanding of system dynamics, Markov, and
Monte Carlo simulation approaches; experience with differential
equations, probability, stochastic processes, cost-effectiveness
analysis, and advanced statistics such as multivariate non-linear
regression; experience with SQL, VBA/VB or other programming
languages; experience working with an interdisciplinary research team
and publishing in journals.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Rank is
flexible. A senior or junior research faculty position (non-tenure
track) is possible along with the opportunity to write new grant
proposals and forge new research directions. To apply, send cover
