Announcement of Faculty Positions
Operations and Information Systems
University of Colorado at Boulder

Position Description. The Systems Division of the Leeds School of
Business seeks to recruit one new faculty member at the rank of
assistant professor for Fall 2003. Applicants should have a
doctorate or ABD (all-but-dissertation) status in OR, OM, MIS, IS, CS
or a related discipline and be highly committed to both research and
teaching. Preference will be given to candidates whose technical
research is applied to operations management (e.g., logistics and
supply chain systems), operations research (e.g., optimization)
and/or information systems (e.g., databases and distributed
information systems, networks, data mining and internet
technologies). Teaching responsibilities will cover a mix of courses
at the undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral levels. In particular, we
seek individuals who can be effective in teaching topics such as
systems thinking, database design and supply chain systems.
Candidates should exhibit exceptional research promise that targets
top tier scholarly journals.

Applications. An applicant should provide a cover letter and a
concise curriculum vita that includes: (1) educational background and
achievements; (2) research and publication record; (3) areas of
research and teaching foci including future goals in these pursuits;
(4) indicators of teaching effectiveness; (5) professional work
experience; and (6) a list of three references with addresses and
phone numbers. The candidate may also submit any samples of academic
papers, journal article reprints or teaching materials.

17-20 at the 2002 INFORMS meeting in San Jose

2002 International Conference on Information Systems in Barcelona

Systems Division. The Leeds School of Business Systems Division is
currently comprised of ten tenure/tenure-track faculty members and
four senior instructors. Systems faculty target leading scholarly
journals such as Information Systems Research, Management Science,
and Operations Research. Faculty members in the division have also
received recognition as leaders in their disciplines through
receiving "best article" and "best paper" awards and taking
leadership roles in their professional associations. One of our
senior members, Professor Fred Glover, is recipient of the1998 John
Von Neumann Theory Prize for his work on metaheuristic optimization.
