Faculty Job Openings

Post by John Sterman »

Folks,

My colleague Prof. Yossi Sheffi is leading an important partnership
between MIT and the government of Spain to create a world-class
program in logistics education and research, centered in Zaragoza.
Yossi and the other program participants are keen to include system
dynamics in the teaching and research program, and seek to hire
faculty for this purpose. Below you will find the job description
and contact information. You can learn more at their site,
http://mit.edu/zlc.

Faculty Opening in System Dynamics
MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Government of
Aragón (Spain) have partnered to create an international program for
logistics education and research in Zaragoza, Spain. The Zaragoza
Logistics Center (ZLC) has full-time positions at all levels to teach
and perform research within the MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics
Program. Given MITs leading position in developing system dynamics
models for supply chain management, we are looking for junior or
senior faculty with a strong background in system dynamics and
experience in supply chain or operations management.

Faculty positions involve teaching both graduate- and executive-level
courses in English; supervising theses; collaborative research with
industry; publishing in scholarly journals, academic proceedings and
trade journals; and active participation in corporate outreach. ZLC
faculty will have opportunity to spend time at MIT. Both multi-year
contract and visiting appointments are available. Salary is
competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Requirements include a Ph.D. in system dynamics or a related
discipline. Relevant industry experience is a plus. Spanish language
skills are not required but are a plus. Candidates for senior
positions should demonstrate capability to lead the Centers path to
prominence in education and research.

The Zaragoza Logistics Center for education and research is
positioned in the midst of PLAZA - a state-of-the-art logistics park
at the hub of major air, road, and rail networks - to forge closer
relationships between academia and industry. Zaragoza, Spain, is
located halfway between Madrid and Barcelona in the shadow of the
Pyrenees.

Applicants must submit a letter of interest and curriculum vita
emphasizing teaching experience, industry experience, and research
capability to:
Jarrod Goentzel
goentzel@mit.edu
MIT E40-276, 77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02139
or
