Systems thinking literacy

Hi

I am designing a management education program to help managers and their teams understand and apply systems thinking. Is there any resources/references that outlines levels of literacy in systems thinking? I know most people would say that using mental maps is the way to help managers understand systems thinking. However from my experience, I think using mental maps does not help managers clearly align systems thinking to their business challenges. Most managers I speak with are not sure what systems are about. They tend to view systems purely as an IT component. So - can anybody point me in a direction where I could find some research carried out in exploring levels of literacy to help managers understand business from a systems perspective?

Thanks for your help

Kind regards
Francis Maietta
