A literature search regarding the modeling and simulation of business ecosystems has turned up very little. Nor could we find anything in the archives of this list on the subject, which lead us to post this query. We would appreciate any references to authors or specific
articles that discuss the business modeling an ecosystem perspective.
Thanks!

QUERY Modeling Business as an Ecosystem
Posted by Scott Rockart <srockart@duke.edu>
Hi Wayne,
The OnStar work done by GM definitely falls under the heading of modeling a business ecosystem. You can read about it in:
Barabba, V., C. Huber, F. Cooke, N. Pudar, J. Smith and M. Paich (2002).
""A Multimethod Approach for Creating New Business Models: The General Motors OnStar Project."" Interfaces 32(1): 20-34.
and (tangentially anyway) in the HBS case: OnStar: Not your Father's GM
(#9-602-081)
there is also a video on the modeling project available from INFORMS
(http://www.informs.org/site/edelman_dvd/) since the project was a finalist in the Edelman competition.
Best,
Scott
