ANNOUNCE Call for Session Convenors at Athens

Post by ""Brian Dangerfield"" <B.C.Da »

PROPOSALS FOR SPECIAL SESSIONS: Session proposals are officially due by
March 21, 2008, BUT if you are planning to be a session convener for a
special or convened parallel session (or panel discussion, etc.) please
send your session title and brief description to me promptly so that it
may be announced and promoted in the registration brochure. Briefly, the
responsibilities of a Session Convener are listed below:

1. Create session idea. Develop a brief description (5 to 10 lines)
describing your session topic and send it to me immediately for further
reference.

2. Invite speakers to your session. You need to ensure the speakers'
commitment to submit a full paper by March 21. Sessions will be one
hour, convene 3 (no more than 4) speakers on your topic, possibly
including yourself. This gives the session convener the opportunity to
work with the authors on the quality of the paper in advance of
submission.

3. Authors submit their papers. Papers and abstracts should be sent by
the authors directly to the Society's web submission system. The papers
will receive an anonymous peer review, the same standards applied to all
papers submitted, whether part of a convened session or not. To be part
of your session, a full paper must be submitted, at the latest by March
21.

4. Inform the program chair regarding which papers are being proposed
for your convened session.

5. Harmonize the session. When the paper evaluation period is over,
circulate the papers among the session authors. That way, the authors
know about each other and can adjust their presentation accordingly.
Encourage the authors to develop presentation material as soon as
possible and you should all share the material developed and, if called
for, suggest improvements to help ensure not only high quality papers,
but high quality presentations.

6. Submit an abstract for the printed proceedings.

7. Chair your session. Prepare a brief introduction and encourage
discussion.

Please note that right now, for various reasons, we cannot guarantee for
a session to take place at the conference.

For more information on submissions, see
http://www.systemdynamics.org/conferenc ... /index.htm.

Sincerely, Brian Dangerfield
Program Chair
