Developmental Papers-Call for Papers Update
International Conference of the System Dynamics Society
Athens, Greece July 20 - 24, 2008

Please find below information introducing the *New for 2008* Developmental
Papers format. This new presentation format will be scheduled in parallel
sessions in addition to all regularly offered sessions (plenary, parallel,
poster, workshop).

March 21, 2008: SUBMISSION DEADLINE for this and all types of papers for
review, workshops, tutorials and session proposals. Please visit the
website for more conference information:
http://www.systemdynamics.org/conferenc ... /index.htm

The purpose of developmental papers is to allow authors to discuss work
that is still in its developmental stage. All developmental papers will be
presented together in the same sessions during the conference. The main
focus of the sessions will be on discussion rather than on a standard
presentation. Spending time discussing work with other participants will
enable authors to gather feedback which can then have an impact on the
final stages of their research.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Submissions to the developmental thread should be
extended abstracts of 1000-2000 words (excluding references). A comment
should be included at the end of the extended abstract on how the authors
expect to advance the paper between now and the conference. When
submitting an extended abstract (in pdf format) to the conference web
submission system, authors need to ensure that they have chosen the
""Developmental Papers"" checkbox on the ""Paper Information"" page (this page
includes the title and abstract). Like regular submissions, the
developmental papers will require a title, short abstract and complete
author information. The extended abstract should contain no author
information to allow for a blind review.

Submissions to this thread will not be refereed in the same manner as
other submissions to the conference. The thread chair will make the
decision on which papers are accepted. There will only be a limited number
of developmental sessions held during the conference and thus only a
limited number of papers can be accepted. Please note that as only an
extended abstract is required, if a paper is not accepted for a
developmental paper session it cannot be considered for scheduling in a
regular session.

The time slots for developmental paper presentation will be similar in
length to standard parallel presentations; however, the normal format will
be reversed. Authors should first give the audience a brief overview of
their work and then allow the majority of the time to be spent on
discussion and feedback. Developmental papers will be scheduled for
presentation in a ""round table"" room set-up, and audiovisual equipment
will NOT be provided. Authors are advised to bring copies of their papers
and any additional handouts that they may wish to briefly talk through or
distribute to their audience.

A synopsis paper for the developmental sessions, including all presenters'
names, will be included in the web conference proceedings.
