Dear Colleagues,

I forward the following note (with permission) from Nicole Harris of
Harvard Business Publishing. HBP is launching an online version of the
Beer Game this summer (developed in partnership with Forio Business
Simulations). They are looking for interested academic faculty to field
test the simulation over the next two months.

If you are interested in attending an informational webinar for
potential field testers, please contact Nicole directly at
nharris@hbsp.harvard.edu

Best regards, WILL

************

Hello from Harvard Business Publishing!

We're pleased to announce that our new* Supply Chain Management
simulation:**The Root Beer Game* is almost ready for field
testing.* * Based on the classic Beer Game developed at MIT's Sloan
School of Management,/ The Root Beer Game/ is an online simulation
designed to teach core principles of supply chain management and the
""Bullwhip Effect.""

Because you're someone who has expressed interest in prior Operations
Management simulations from Harvard Business Publishing, we'd like to
invite you to attend an upcoming informational webinar where you can
learn more about the simulation and see if you might be interested in
testing this with students. Below is an overview of the simulation, as
well as the webinar details.

We hope to hear from you soon!

Nicole

*Supply Chain Management simulation:**/ The Root Beer Game*

Based on the famous Beer Game designed by Jay Forrester at MIT in the
1960s, this team-based online simulation teaches core principles of
supply chain management and the ""Bullwhip Effect."" As one of four roles
in a Root Beer Supply Chain: Factory, Distributor, Wholesaler, or
Retailer, students place orders from their direct supplier based on
demand from the next node on the chain. Limited communication and
visibility along the chain, combined with shipping delays, cascade
quickly into severe shortages or overstocks, despite customer demand
remaining virtually steady throughout the game.
