Position Description

Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics

The Social Science and Policy Studies (SSPS) Department at WPI announces =
a
tenure-track faculty position in Economics. The position will be filled a=
t the
Assistant or Associate Professor level.=20

A candidate should have a Ph. D. in economics. The selected candidate wil=
l teach
courses in economics. The ideal candidate will have the ability to conduc=
t
interdisciplinary research and form research and teaching partnerships wi=
th
other
faculty in the social sciences, sciences, and engineering. A publication =
record
of applied economic research with public policy emphasis is a plus. Famil=
iarity
with system dynamics and other computational methods is desirable.

The SSPS Department at WPI has multidisciplinary faculty offering undergr=
aduate
programs in economics, psychology, system dynamics, technology and societ=
y,
environmental studies, and law and technology, and a master=92s degree an=
d
interdisciplinary Ph. D. program in system dynamics. The Department also =
offers
breadth courses in social science Institute-wide. Research in the Departm=
ent
covers a wide range of economics, social science, and policy topics, with
several
faculty sharing an interest in system dynamics =96 a modeling and compute=
r
simulation approach to understanding social and economic systems.
