Data connections

Post by Phill »

Thank you for the new beta release extending access to January. The accompanying email mentioned time series data support and I would be very keen to see the ability to link Ventity (and Vensim, come to that) to an online database such as MySQL. Currently, we have to get a client's IT department involved to export data from the database to a CSV file that we can then use for data input to a model, but we could have 'live' access to the database table directly, if it were possible to set the model up to connect to that. I have a particular future project in mind where we want to model the cost implications for different outputs from a variable pricing policy and the client is currently collecting data in their Property Management System, which uses a MySQL database.

For info, Vensim DSS can already read from databases via ODBC.

I use Vensim Pro, so I wasn't aware of that and will consider an upgrade. Will Ventity have a similar capability?
