varformat error 2172

Has anybody come across the error message "varformat error 2172" when opening model files. This occurs when venism is either closed and a file is opened through windows explorer or opening the file directly from Vensim. I note though that it doesn't occur when in text mode only in sketch mode upon opening.

This doesn't occur for all models but so far only on our world energy model which is fairly large and complex (~50 sheets). This model works fine on version 5.5d but since upgrading to the latest version (5.8d DSS) this message is given on start-up.

The model still runs but the question is, what is this error message and is it something to be concerned about?

If this is a .vmf file you should try reform/clean to see if the problem goes away. It usually is the results of some internal memory misalignment. If it is a .mdl file (or reform/clean does not fix it) and you can email it to me I would be happy to take a closer look.
