Some time ago a query was posted asking for tools that connect models to related
documentation. May I suggest that these may be found in the Systems Engineering
profession. The following are suggested for information only. I am not
endorsing or advertising any product.
The flagship tool in the SE profession is RDD-100, by Ascent Logic in San Jose,
CA (I dont know the address). This tool has the capability to build executable
models in object-oriented language (I presume stock and flow models are a subset
of this), while keeping track of all functionality, requirements, and associated
documentation.
SLATE, by TD Technologies Inc, 2424 N Central Expressway, Suite 200, Richardson,
TX 75080, 214-669-9937, FAX 214-669-9938, represents systems as hierarchies of
boxes and lines. The boxes are functional and can contain anything. They are
linked to related data.
Nu-Thena Systems, Inc., 1430 Spring Hill Rd., Suite 220, McLean VA 22102,
703-356-5056, FAX 703-356-0498, info@nuthena,com, has a product called Foresight
v4.1. It creates dynamic functional and performance models, generates
documentation, generates code, traces requirements, and provides data analysis
and visualization.
For more, check the web site of the International Council on Systems
Engineering, <www.incose.org> and look on the page about tools.
