How to get automatically loged in as in the older version

In the new version, at every connection to the forum one is obliged to log in, to be able to see in red any new message.
Is it possible to make the new version work like the old one, where whatever the status, loged in or not, the new messages appeared in red, and once visited
the red disappeared?

I don't think it is possible, but I will have a look at the settings to see if I can do something.
