Answering a question on "the development of crime" models,
Nordin Othman suggested the following:

I tried to locate this book in DUTCH libraries, but didnt succeed.
The only thing I found was a book with exactly the same title but
different author(s):

Anyone familiar with the "Daryl Hellman" one, or the one below?

Hellman try to anlyyze the reasons for the crime problems and evaluate
various public policies for dealing with it. The limitation however, is
that this book focuses on the economic approach to understanding criminal
behavior. Understanding of criminal behavior most certainly requires a
multidisciplinary perspective (which by the way was also acknowledged by the
author). An economist approach to the problem domain logically lead to
seeing crime as a "rational behavior" as apposed to a sociologists "deviant
behavior" perspective. But the greatest "danger" in my opinion to the
economic model approach is that, because of the assumption of rationallity,
it leads to the hypothesis that punishment deters crime. and "ceteris
paribus" an increase in expected punishment costs should decrease crime.
However, the dicussions contained in the book give a good treatment to the
subject for you to select a starting point for you SD modeling.
