Powersim ships Metro Server

Post by CHChurchjr@aol.com »

Thanks to all in the SD community who supported Powersim in their effort with
Metro Server. The interest in the press about the product was beyond
expectation at Web 97. This should benefit everyone involved in Systems
Thinking.

Metro Product Manager

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1997--Powersim Corporation
today announced availability of Metro Server, its business simulation
development environment for the Internet at the SD/Web97 Conference
held here today through Friday at the Washington Convention Center.
With Metro Server, a new class of World Wide Web-based
application development is possible for simulating business outcomes,
creating competitive market models or "war games," and developing
online advertising "microsites," or animated interstitials, in the
parlance of the Jupiter Communications 1998 online advertising
report.
Powersims Metro Server permits the distribution of these
simulations (WebSims) via Internet sites, intranet and extranet
infrastructure. Powersim is demonstrating interactive WebSims at
SD/Web97 conference in their booth 123. Demonstrations of JobHop,
a career exploration WebSim built for publishing giant Ziff-Davis,
which lets users play out scenarios relevant to their existing or a
new career path; Oil Fund WebSim by Statoil, where users take on the
role of the Prime Minister and manage the country oil fund; and a
WebSim for government agency Sandia Labs, which features a simulation
of Chinas water dynamic and competition for its water supply, will
be previewed for tradeshow attendees.

Metro Development Suite
Powersim Metro comprises two tools, Constructor and Metro Server,
for simulation development on the Internet. Constructor is a visual
development application that captures the unique variables in a
business, market or advertising setting and transforms them into a
simulation. Underlying the icons and graphically-represented
relationships are algebraic formulas which describe relationships
between the users and resources of a business.
Metro Server is the simulation server software that connects the
simulation model built with Powersim Constructor to a user interface
in Java.. Users contact a URL containing a simulator, and Metro
Server launches and initializes the business simulation
automatically.
Simulations can be played by many users at the same time. A
separate simulation is launched on each users computer by Metro
Server, which keeps track of the details of each simulation
separately. Developers can run multiple simulations from the same
server concurrently.

Pricing and Availability
The complete Metro suite is available for order now by calling
Powersim at (703) 481-1270 or at the corporate website (www.powersim.com).

I saw your press release. Whats an "Animated Interstitial" and how do
you employ a web-based simulation to effect one???

enquiring minds want to know.
