System Thinking/ System Dynamics in Canada

Dear SD fellows,

I am planning to make a database list about SD work in Canada. I would
strongly appreciate if u know any institution, organization (Government,
SemiGovernement, Private), small / big companies then please do reply
with some description of SD work. Your description will help to organize
data in categories. This list will be available to all fellows soon, so
your cooperation will be a step ahead to know about SD work in Canada.

SD is used by Environment Canada to address climate change issues (most
recently for NAPCC.) NRCan has used SD since 1990 for energy planning. BC
Hydro uses it for deregulation analysis. BC Gas has used it for
forecasting, and Saskatchewan Energy and Mines uses it for Energy Policy.
CERI (Canadian Energy Research Institute) uses it for energy analysis. All
the above are associated with the ENERGY 2020 model. (For a crude view on a
just under construction site see www.energy2020.com)

SD is also used by the National Research Council of Canada to look at R&D
prioritization. Robbert & Associates (www.robbert.ca) also does some SD
work. Transalta has used it as part of it "sustainability" efforts. (See
the World Business Council for Sustainable Development web site.) I am sure
there are many other project that have been done in Canada. You may want to
contact Robert Walker (rjwalker@sympatico.ca) He leads a SD Users group in
Ottawa.
