As long as we are focused on the justice system, I am working on a model of
the civil justice system in Georgia, namely Georgia Legal Services and
Atlanta Legal Aid. Does anyone know of modeling in this civil justice area
in other states or nationally?
Thanks,

system dynamics model of justice system chain
Hello fellow system dynamicists:
in English as the judicial system chain, i.e. from law making to law
enforcement, tracking down of criminals, bringing them to court, sending
them to jail and rehabilitating them? [Sorry for the informal phrasing,
I dont know the appropriate jargon in English but I guess you will get
the point anyway]?
I know that I have seen some references in the past but I am sure there
are people on this list that know precisely who wrote what on what topic
where and when.
Thanks for your help,
Henk Akkermans

A model of heroin addiction in an urban community developed by Ed Roberts, Gil
Levin, and me in the early 1970s in New York dealt with the significant
criminal justice components of the problem (arresting and jailing of addict
criminals, police action to reduce hard and soft drug supplies) as well as a
number of treatment options, preventive education, and community education.
The work was written up in a book called The Persistent Poppy: A Computer-
Aided Search for Heroin Policy which is out-of-print, but may be possible to
find in a library. The work is also described in a chapter in Eds book,
Managerial Applications of System Dynamics, available from Pegasus, and in an
article in the June, 1972 issue of the American Journal of Public Health.

Henk Akkermans asked about publications on the judicial system chain
In response Alan Graham mentioned:
* William Shaeffer, MIT Management School PhD thesis, late 1970s,
(unknown title).
I would also like to indicate:
* Paul E. McCold, SUNY PhD thesis, 1993, with the title:
The role of fiscal policy in producing prison population dynamics:
a trend analysis and dynamic simulation of felony offender processing in
New York state (1975-1988)
These are, however, focused on criminal law.

system dynamics model of justice system chain
Hi fellow system dynamicists,
For those of you who hadnt noticed, the first line in my query probably
got lost somewhere in cyberspace.
It read: Who can help me with references to system dynamics modellings
efforts of what may be described ...
and then came the text that was distributed already:
> in English as the judicial system chain, i.e. from law making to law

>them to jail and rehabilitating them? [Sorry for the informal phrasing, I

Sorry for the confusion and once again thanks for your help,
