Happy New (Gregorian calendar) Year!
Raafat Zaini and I had a conversation last week about different calendar systems. Maybe we should have a system dynamics calendar system with our new year being Forrester's birthday and our celebration being the International System Dynamics Conference? Other days can be celebrations/remembrances of other greats (Dana Meadows, Barry Richmond, etc.) in the field? Alright, enough of my random ramblings. Raafat suggested that I move the SD/ST quotes/poems/songs that I put in the p.s. sections of past digests up. Please let me know if you like (or dislike) the rearranging. Now, I will end with this quote and move onto with digest.
To paraphrase a common prayer: God grant us the serenity to exercise our bounded rationality freely in the systems that are structured appropriately, the courage to restructure the systems that aren't, and the wisdom to know the difference! (Meadows, 2008, p. 110)
Meadows, D. H. (2008). Thinking in Systems: A Primer. Chelsea Green Publishing.
The WPI System Dynamics Collective Learning Meetings (CLMs) for next semester will be on Fridays 3PM - 4PM ET (Boston time). Check the tentative schedule, guidelines and requirements (recording is optional) in the link below:
