Custom graph not displaying properly

I can create a custom graph that looks just right when I click "Test output", but when I display the actual graph it's not what I specified.
This is what I specify:

This is what I get when I display the graph in the Custom Graph tab of the control panel:

Note that in the graph design panel I specified 6 divisions on the x-axis; that's shown properly in the test output, but not in actual custom graph.
Also, the displayed custom graph shows the variables with live check boxes, which I certainly don't want.

I get this behavior using Vensim PLE 9.3 and 9.4, on two different Macs running MacOS 12.6 and 10.13.6.

How do I get the actual custom graph, which I need to copy into an external document, to match what the test output shows?
