Not working in new GUI: Zooming with shift+ctrl+click-drag (Mac)

When using the old GUI one can zoom seamlessly using shift+ctrl+click-drag up or down depending on whether you want to zoom in or out.
This feature is extremely useful for me. And it stops working as soon as I switch to the new GUI.
Is there any other way to zoom easily in the new GUI? Pinch-zoom on the trackpad does not work either...

I'll raise it as a missing feature. Problem is there are so many "gestures" on the Mac, I've got them all switched off on mine as I got annoyed by accidentally doing strange things all the time.

It will zoom in using control+mouse wheel on Windows. And control and two fingers on the trackpad.
