Unable to open Vensim

I have tried downloading the academic version of PLE Multiple times on a Macbook air (running macOS Big Sur version 11.1).

Each time, after downloading when I open the application I receive an error message "The application vensim PLE cannot be opened".

Does anyone have any tips to troubleshoot this?

@nicole - what model of MacBook Air do you have?

@travis - it is an M1 2020 MacBook Air.

I have tried all the above suggestions, and the error message has changed to "this application has quit unexpectedly". Any tips much appreciated!

If you've used Vensim before, try deleting or renaming the .venple file in your home folder (it's hidden).

This will mean Vensim starts with default settings, maybe you had the old GUI running before?

Admin – Does Vensim run on Big Sur version 11.x still? I remember another thread where some people where having trouble with older version of macOS. Maybe Nicole should also consider updating macOS?

But the hidden file is the first thing to check...
