Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a paper or academic article that compares the capabilities and features of different system dynamics modeling software (e.g., Vensim, Stella, AnyLogic, Powersim, etc.). I’m particularly interested in analyses covering aspects such as ease of use, simulation capacity, graphical representation of models, and compatibility with other tools.
If anyone knows of a reference or has experience with this type of study, I’d greatly appreciate your help. Thanks in advance!
Let me know if you’d like me to tweak it further.
Looking for Papers Comparing SD Modeling Software
Re: Looking for Papers Comparing SD Modeling Software
All current system dynamic software are good and what makes the difference is the capability of the modeler and the problem studied.

Thank you, but I’m looking for an academic reference to justify the choice of a specific software.

I do not recall seeing anything like that in the past. All you can really do is try each and judge for yourself. If you can find users in your institution that already use a certain package, maybe use that?
Vensim is a very mature product, it's been commercially available for many many years. It's also free for academic use (https://vensim.com/free-downloads/) and you can get a lot of help here if you need it. It's also used by many institutions around the world, you can find a lot of studies online that have made use of it dating back well over 20 years.
Hope this helps.
