Hello everyone,
I am a student who is new to using Vensim PLE for my dynamic systems class. It's the first week of the term, and upon installing the program it always loads infinitely before crashing when I open it. I believe I have all of the pre requisite software required to run the program, and I haven't been able to find any solid answers online. I've tried unintalling and reinstalling with admin privileges but have been unable to find a fix thus far. If anyone knows a way around this please let me know! I apologize if this is the wrong place for this kind of post. If I need to post any specs please let me know.

Re: Vensim PLE Windows 10 Crash
There shouldn't really be any prereqs for PLE (other than fairly minimal machine and OS requirements). Do you get the option to submit a crash report when it crashes? Are you using the latest version 10.x?

Re: Vensim PLE Windows 10 Crash
Hi thank you for the reply! No I don't get an option for a crash report
After installing the program, whenever I try to open it vensim ple gets stuck on a white screen and if I try to interact at all it crashes without a crash report. Opening task manager it lists as "Not responding" as soon as I try to run it. I've tried letting it sit a few minutes but that didn't seem to change anything. Yes I'm using the latest version that is available from free downloads link the site directs you to for Vensim PLE. I believe it is 10.2.2. If needed I can try to provide screenshots of the issue, I don't have much to work off of unfortunately though.

Re: Vensim PLE Windows 10 Crash
I'm sure I saw a crash report with your name on it, but no contact details so I could not follow up.
Are you on Windows or Mac?
If you are on Windows, can you try the following?
Edit the file %appdata%\vensim\venple.ini in a text editor and find the line
Renderer=0,,,,
Replace it with
Renderer=1,,,,
Now start Vensim and see if it's ok. Please let me know if this works for you.

Re: Vensim PLE Windows 10 Crash
Thank you again for the response. I’m on windows 10, and after locating the venple.ini file there is only 1 line inside “[vensim]” aside from that there is nothing else. I still get a blank white screen when launching vensim ple and I have to wait for the program to crash or end the task with task manager. I’m not sure what else to do, I’ve never had an issue like this before, especially since my pc both hardware and software wise should be able to run vensim.

Does your machine have all the Microsoft updates installed?

Re: Vensim PLE Windows 10 Crash
Could it be anti virus stopping Vensim from starting?
I've got Norton, it usually scans any new executables before it lets then run.

Re: Vensim PLE Windows 10 Crash
It could be and I’ll check again. I don’t have any anti virus besides the windows one, and it seems to be letting the program run. The crash happens afterwards. I’ll probably try using something like Wine on my Linux build to run it
