Dear all,
A couple of weeks ago I announced the system dynamics/theory cluster in the
major yearly, joint EURO/INFORMS conference in Istanbul this summer.
Several people contacted me with (similar) questions so I will try to make a
couple of general clarifications (This will be my last message in this list on
this conference):
A person can submit an online abstract in the "general" category or in the
"invited" category. Since ours is a special "cluster" if you want your paper to
be evaluated specifically for thiis cluster, you should submit it in the
invited category, using the code below.
- So you first contact me (cluster chair) or the session chair who invited you
to submit the abstract and then make submissions at
http://www.euro-online.org/euro19/displ ... edabstract
using your code number.
For System Dynamics and Theory (no. 83) the code s 831.
(Please note that there is not a slash ("/") in this number).
- Another important issue is that you will have to pre-register first by
providing your personal information (no payment required yet).
- For all general info, please visit: http://www.istanbul2003.org/
thanks and regards

EURO/INFORMS Conf. System dynamics cluster
Dear All,
If you attended the annual SD conference in Palermo, you may recall my
announcement about the "system dynamics/sytem theory CLUSTER" that I
will be chairing the forthcoming EURO/INFORMS Joint Conference in
Istanbul during July
6-10, 2003. Being the joint conference between Europe and America, this
is the largest operations research/management science meeting worldwide.
A "cluster" is a collection of related sessions, sort of like a "mini"
conference within the EURO/INFORMS conference. As the chair of the
"invited sessions cluster in
System Dynamics and Theory", my job is to recruit papers in this area. I
am told that there are two ways I can do this: I may either deal with
the authors directly myself or ask appropriate colleagues to serve as a
session chair who organises one or several sessions for the cluster.
So, please let me know within the next couple of weeks if:
i- you are interested in submitting a paper
ii- you are interested in chairing a session (or more)
Each session lasts for ninety minutes and consists of four papers
typically. Papers/sessions can consist of applied or methodological
papers. Only abstracts are published in proceedings, so all needed by
the last deadline is an abstract.
The DEADLINE to submit a paper title and/or sessiion proposals to me is
beginning of DECEMBER. (So I can complete my cluster organization by
December 15).
The DEADLINE to submit the paper abstract online at the conf. website at
www.istanbul2003.org is January 15, 2003.
Some notes:
-Each paper accepted by a cluster chair will be classified as an
"invited paper."
-There will be no more than one paper per speaker
- Each speaker has to register and pay the registration fee.
Deadline for early registration: March 15, 2003
Deadline for (late) registration: May 1, 2003.
You may find more info. about the conference by visiting the Web site
http://www.istanbul2003.org/.
It is my impression that this cluster will be a great exposure for good
system dynamics work and a very productive way interacting with related
disciplines. I am looking forward to your submissions!
Best to all,
Yaman
