Dear Network Companions:
The following is a status report on my project to develop a
general theory of religion using system dynamics. For an
introduction to this project, point your web browser at
http://world.std.com/~awolpert
The following are some items of value issuing from the project:
1) It provides insights toward a philosophical foundation for
system dynamics by clarifying the nature of time, the essence of
the system dynamics method.
2) It counterbalances the worldly nature and outer focus of
system dynamics by focusing on the spiritual and the inner life.
3) It clarifies the essence of religion and philosophy.
4) It complements the trend toward emerging regional communities
and a global economy, because a general theory could begin to
defuse intercultural religious tensions and the clash of
civilizations resulting from such globalization.
The project has required me to draw upon the following fields of
knowledge: system dynamics, cognitive science, AI, neuroscience,
philosophy of the mind, psychology, psychiatry, anthropology,
philosophy of science, history of science, and comparative religions.
After 10 years this one-man project is getting too vast. As a result
development is leveling off. People who are experts in the above
fields are needed to stimulate and develop the project further.
Yours truly,
Arlen Wolpert
