Red appearing even if later then last active

I think but I am not sure, that some times before on the forum, it there was no posts since last active, (the last active date that appears on the top right of the page), nothing was appearing red.
Now even if you have consulted a post, left the forum and come back, the red is still there.

I don't quite understand the logic that shows the posts as unread/read. Hopefully when I get the updated software loaded, it might make things better.
